The qualifiers for the Energy Electronics Industry Track of the 2025 BRICS Industrial Innovation Competition were held in the Zhaoqing High-tech Industry Development Zone in Guangdong, south China, on August 20 and 21.

The BRICS countries together account for about 40 percent of the global total energy consumption. Therefore developing renewable energy represented by photovoltaic (PV) energy and energy storage is an important path for the green transformation of BRICS countries.

Launched in June, the competition attracted more than 200 innovative projects from enterprises and scientific research institutions in the BRICS and "BRICS+" countries. They covered cutting-edge fields such as PV materials, sodium-ion batteries, solid-state batteries, and PV hydrogen production. Sixty-eight outstanding projects entered the final stage.

After evaluation by nine experts, there were seven winners and 12 second prize winners.
